Jonah’s Mission
God commanded Jonah, a prophet, to go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against its wickedness. Instead of obeying, Jonah tried to flee by boarding a ship heading to Tarshish, the opposite direction.
The Storm
As the ship sailed, the Lord sent a violent storm that threatened to break it apart. The sailors, terrified, prayed to their gods and threw cargo overboard. Realizing Jonah was the cause, they asked what to do. Jonah admitted he was fleeing God and told them to throw him into the sea. Reluctantly, they did — and the storm stopped instantly.
Swallowed by the Great Fish
Instead of drowning, God sent a great fish (often described as a whale) to swallow Jonah. He remained in its belly three days and three nights, praying to God with a repentant heart.https://youtu.be/A1pZymAbrZQ
